The Amokura Programme partners rangatahi from Oranga Tamariki with passionate TARHI Mentors who will coach them through positive decision making processes, strengthen cultural connection, motivate and inspire rangatahi to dream big and unlock their true potential, bridge rangatahi into employment or education, and reduce reoffending, where applicable. This will be achieved by using four core values of Te Ara Rangatahi guided by Kaupapa Māori frameworks.

our rangatahi mentoring programmes |
A 6-week introduction to the Amokura mentoring programme tailored to reflect the decisions and recommendations formulated out of a Family Group Conference. Te Ara Rangatahi will prioritise whanaungatanga by forming and building respectful relationships with the rangatahi. We will utilise kaupapa māori frameworks to assess the needs, wellbeing and aspirations of the rangatahi. The purpose of this programme is to prepare the rangatahi for a smooth transition into long term mentoring.
|
An intensive 26-week mentoring programme tailored to younger Rangatahi with a heavy focus on solidifying cultural identity and connection. We will foster and develop Rangatahi skills based on their interests, prioritise equipping them with the tools needed to remain or reintegrate back into education, help navigate the Rangatahi to attain their version of success and mitigate the risk of (re)offending where applicable.
